A few times a year everyone at Cars for Sale gets together for learning, sharing, and connecting. These days start with a bit of business and end with a lot of fun! 

To kick things off, employees chat during breakfast, gather in the auditorium, and then get a business update. Every employee from every department is informed about the latest completed projects, innovative new ideas, and projected timelines for achieving company goals. 

It felt very energizing to get to spend some time in-person with everyone, especially when it was mostly a day focused on celebrating all of the progress we’ve made.

New employees were welcomed with a round of applause and longtime team members were given an ovation of their own. Those who were pivotal part of large projects were given recognition, too. There was a Price Is Right audience participation portion of this business update too, complete with a Drew Carey-esque host from our Human Resources department. Then there was a certain Queen song that is sure to be stuck in a few people’s heads for the next few weeks! 

I thought that was all fun and quite funny! The Queen video in particular! Every time it came on, the whole group sitting around me would groan, and I just laughed!

After the business was out of the way, the entire staff took an annual group photo as they looked out over Lake Lorraine. Lunch was served underneath the sunshine and a blue sky at tables set up in the parking lot. The South Dakota State University ice cream truck even provided dessert. 

My favorite part was getting to enjoy the beautiful weather with some SDSU ice cream!

Sprint Car driver Justin Henderson had his PowerSports.com car on display, while he signed autographs and posed for photos. Justin wasn’t just posing for photos, though. He and others were snapping pics and video as three professional Motocross riders provided an exciting show filled with stunts! 

My favorite part of the day was the bike jumping. It was awesome being outside and getting to see those guys again!

These freestyle motocross riders took their X Games abilities to the sky with leaps, flips, and twists, traveling several feet up and across with each jump! Keith Sayers, Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Stenberg, and Brody Wilson greeted the Cars For Sale family after their impressive stunts. 

I grew up watching Jeremy Stenberg (Twitch) on TV/YouTube so, to be able to see him do what he does best, in person and practically within my reach, is something that I’ll never forget! I got to snag a photo with him and share a couple of laughs too!

After the FMX riders posed for photos and signed autographs, they even took an inside lap around the cubicles, revving up their bikes to the delight of their audience! 

To close out the day, prizes were given away to a dozen employees during a unique, duck-themed version of a cakewalk! Special judges were watching closely, singling out the best waddlers, who received some cash for their efforts. 

Those who didn’t win weren’t disappointed, though. Everyone got to go home early in a show of appreciation for all of their continued hard work! 

I’ve never worked for an employer who makes it such a priority for his employees to have so much fun. I’m so appreciative of that and can’t wait to experience more of those fun activities!
