Kicking Off Thanksgiving with Turkey Bowling

At Cars For Sale, there’s always one way to initiate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend: by bowling with a frozen turkey! Now in its 10th year, turkey bowling has become a fun tradition for participating bowlers and onlookers alike.

Every year, an employee from each department is selected to give their best shot at knocking down 10 pins. It’s not just about the pride of calling yourself a turkey bowling pro, though. Each participant receives $10 for each knocked over pin!

Through spares and a strike, three different people walked away with $100. Lots of other pins were toppled by the turkey-throwing competitors, too. While most people used the larger turkey throughout their turns, some people took the specific approach in using the large turkey to take down most of the pins and using the smaller turkey for more precise throws. At least one person found success with that method, for the most part anyway.

“I felt the strategy to be effective, but I was planning on getting all of them so I’m a little disappointed in that.”

– Paul L., Collections

Still, seven pins isn’t bad, Paul! Meanwhile, other bowlers were just crossing their fingers and hoping for the best.

“I was asking around the office for pointers and the consensus was pure force. I think I probably did better than I would have if I had a bowling ball. It’s definitely a game of luck more than skill. I had a lot of fun!”

– Jack R., Technology

With a few dozen coworkers rallying the bowlers as they all stepped up to the foul line, it was a fun environment for everyone involved and the perfect way to start a four-day weekend.
