Giving Back, One Donation at a Time
At Carsforsale.com, giving back isn’t limited to one event or one season. Throughout the year, our team has found a variety of simple ways to help local organizations and people in our community. Whether it’s donating food, recycling plastic bags, giving blood, or dropping off items that can be reused by someone who needs them, we’ve found that small donations add up.
This spring, our team is participating in several donation drives across the office.
Food Drive Underway In May
Throughout May, employees have been contributing nonperishable items to help support local families in need. Donation boxes were set up, making it easy for team members to bring in a few extra items. What started as an employee idea quickly turned into reality and became a company-wide effort.
Partnering With the Community Blood Bank
For over seven years, we’ve partnered with the Community Blood Bank to host on-site blood drives. These events make it easy for employees to donate blood during the workday and meet a critical community need.
Each visit brings together both returning and first-time donors who step up to take part. Over time, employees have contributed nearly 200 units of blood, helping patients across the region.
Turning Plastic Bags Into Something Bigger
One of the newest collections around the office focuses on something many people already have at home: plastic grocery bags. Employees can donate extra bags by placing them in a collection bin at the office. Those bags are then brought to local organizations for reuse and recycling.
Some are stitched together into sleeping mats for individuals experiencing homelessness — with about 500 bags needed for a single mat. Others are transformed into community benches through a local Lion’s Club program. Each bench is made from roughly 1,000 pounds of recycled plastic, and then placed in parks, at churches, at libraries, and at senior care facilities in the community.
Other Longstanding Ways of Giving Back
Alongside some of the seasonal drives, several ongoing collections continue throughout the year:
– Old cell phones are donated to support the Children’s Inn
– Unneeded eyeglasses are collected, given to the Lion’s Club, and redistributed throughout the community
– Hundreds of pop tabs from drinks around the office are saved and donated to Ronald McDonald House, helping support families while their children receive medical care.
– Reusable food containers are donated to The Banquet to help provide take-home meal options for community members in need
All of these efforts add up to some meaningful impact. It’s nothing complicated — just people pitching in where they can, in different ways.
